Tony Goldwyn Earns Shout-Out At U.S. Open By Frances Tiafoe

From the DNC to the U.S. Open, Tony Goldwyn is definitely having a moment.

The longtime actor/director made a big splash Sunday night in Arthur Ashe stadium, where he reunited with fellow Scandal stars Bellamy Young, Scott Foley, Katie Lowes and Jeff Perry to take in a little tennis with old boss Shonda Rhimes.

His appearance didn’t go unnoticed by U.S. player Frances Tiafoe, who used his interview time after his winning match to give a shout-out to Goldwyn for playing President Fitzgerald Grant on the ABC drama. Tiafoe, who beat Australia’s Alexi Popyrin, is headed to the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

“Yo, I’m a huge fan of you, bro,” said Tiafoe from the court. “Me and my girl used to watch Scandal all the time.”

The camera then pans to Goldwyn, who’s clearly enjoying the moment with Young and Perry.

On Aug. 22, Goldwyn reunited with his Scandal co-star Kerry Washington on the final night of the Democratic National Convention. The audience erupted in cheers as Goldwyn ran out onto the stage with Washington’s phone in hand. She instructed everyone to take a video as they recited Harris’ slogan together. “When we fight,” the actors chanted, to which the crowd responded, “We win!”

Goldwyn, who currently stars on Law and Order, also served as the opening night host for the DNC.
