Hot Dogger Joey Chestnut Regains Coney Island Eating Contest Title

Frankfurter-eating champ Joey Chestnut regained his top dog title today by consuming 70 (and a half) wieners at the 2025 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island, Brooklyn.

Chestnut won the event for the 17th time, beating runner-up (and last year’s winner) Patrick Bertolette by 25 dogs.

Chestnut’s victory comes after his one-year ban from the contest – he was not allowed to compete last year after he partnered with Nathan’s competitor Impossible Foods.

The champ fell short of his personal Coney Island record of 76 hot dogs. Prior to the contest, Chestnut told ESPN that his goal was to down more than 80 dogs at the annual competition.

Eleven-time women’s champ Miki Sudo won that division again today, eating 33 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest has been held at Coney Island since 1972. Nathan’s has been selling hot dogs at the seaside amusement park since 1916. This year’s competition was aired live on ESPN2.
