Democratic National Convention To Stream On TikTok, Instagram And YouTube

The Democratic National Convention will be streamed next week on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, a first for the party as it tries to boost young voter turnout.

The convention starts on Monday in Chicago, with the first night expected to feature President Joe Biden, and other speakers through the week including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton. Vice presidential nominee Tim Walz will speak on Wednesday, and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris will address the convention on the final night, Thursday.

Alex Hornbrook, the executive director of the Democratic National Convention Committee, said in a statement,  “With more and more Americans consuming their news in new and innovative ways, Democrats stand ready to meet them where they are – and to bring our vision for a brighter future to households all across the country.”

The DNC also will have a live stream on its website, and well as English and Spanish language audio options and sign language and audio description access to streaming partners.

Other streams will be on X.com, Twitch.tv, Facebook and Amazon Prime.

Many of the lawmakers attending the convention also backed legislation this year to force TikTok parent ByteDance to divest the social media platform, or face a ban on app stores.
