Barco, CJ 4DPLEX In 5-Year Deal For LaserProjectors To Expand ScreenX Global Footprint

Barco and CJ 4DPLEX have inked a deal for up to 1,000 Barco laser projectors by 2030 to further expand the ScreenX premium cinema format worldwide.

ScreenX, which is becoming increasingly popular, projects on both sides of an auditorium as well as on the main screen.

The agreement calls for Barco to provide high-performance laser projectors to power the side-wall projections. It builds on a partnership from 2023 when Barco was named the global laser projection partner for the ScreenX format.

“Barco is committed to enabling exciting and innovative cinema experiences for every type of moviegoer,” said Gerwin Damberg, EVP Barco Cinema at the announcement, which came on the last day of global exhibition conference CinemaCon. “Through our expanded collaboration with ScreenX, we can continue to delight audiences with a larger-than-life cinematic experience that they truly cannot get at home.”

Jun Bang, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX called the agreement “another significant step in delivering premium experiences” and  “elevating the cinema experience worldwide.”

ScreenX has 270-degree viewing to surround and immerse audiences. By expanding the image beyond the traditional cinema frame and onto the theater’s walls, itn draws moviegoers into the story on the main screen, enabling a panoramic theatrical experience. To date, there are over 425+ ScreenX auditoriums around in 48 countries.
