Catherine O’Hara and Julianne Nicholson showed off their acting prowess, not only landing two nominations each at the 2025 Emmys but both doing it across different genres — for light comedic and dark dramatic turns.
O’Hara is nominated in the Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series category for playing ousted studio executive Parry Leigh in Apple TV+’s The Studio and in the Guest Actress For A Drama Series field for her role as therapist Gail Lynden, who is mourning her husband, on HBO’s The Last Of Us.
In a reverse order, Nicholson is nominated as Supporting Actress In a Drama Series for her villainous mastermind character Sinatra in Hulu’s Paradise and as Guest Actress In A Comedy Series for her zany Dance Mom on HBO Max’s Hacks.
These are acting Emmy noms #4 and #5 for O’Hara; she won in 2020 for Schitt’s Creek. For Nicholson, these are second and third Emmy noms; she converted her first one for Mare of Easttown into a win.
