EXCLUSIVE: New Regency and Maximum Effort are teaming on a feature adaptation of New York Times best-selling novel Eight Perfect Murders, having recently acquired the rights to the Peter Swanson novel and attached Harry Bradbeer to direct. The novel was published by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins.

The news follows Maximum Efforts’ record-breaking box office success with Deadpool vs. Wolverine and the upcoming fourth season of Emmy-winning hit docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham. New Regency’s recent and upcoming film and television slate includes critically acclaimed, The Bikeriders, Steve McQueen’s Blitz, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith which is up for sixteen Emmy nominations.
The novel follows a bookshop owner who finds himself at the center of an FBI investigation when a very clever killer begins to use his list of fiction’s most ingenious murders as inspiration. Swanson is the Sunday Times and New York Times best-selling author of eleven novels, including The Kind Worth Killing, winner of the New England Society Book Award, and finalist for the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, Her Every Fear, an NPR book of the year.
His books have been translated into over 30 languages, and his stories, poetry and features have appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The Guardian and Asimov’s Science Fiction. Swanson’s forthcoming novel, Kill Your Darlings, will be released in 2025.
Bradbeer work as the director and EP on both seasons of Fleabag earned him multiple Emmy, BAFTA, PGA, Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards. Bradbeer also garnered a BAFTA Best Director nomination for the pilot of Killing Eve and directed the pilot of Golden Globe winning series Ramy for A24/Hulu.
Most recently, Bradbeer directed the feature films Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2 for Netflix and Legendary. He is currently in pre-production on the live action series Spider-Man Noir for Amazon with Nicholas Cage starring. Harry will EP and direct the first two episodes. Lord & Miller and Amy Pascal are producing with Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot serving as coshowrunners and executive producing.
