‘Only Murders In The Building’ Adds Keegan-Michael Key For Season 5

EXCLUSIVE: Hulu’s Only Murders In The Building has locked in the first major cast addition for the upcoming fifth season. Keegan-Michael Key has been tapped for a recurring role. As per usual, details about the storylines and new characters are being kept under wraps.

Production on the new season, which will be solving Lester’s murder, started earlier this week in New York with the show’s four series regulars, stars/executive producers Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as well as Michael Cyril Creighton, returning. Once again, they will be surrounded by a recurring cast of big names, starting with Key.

Season 4 features the show’s starriest cast yet, including the return of Meryl Streep, joined by Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Jane Lynch, Richard Kind, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani and Molly Shannon.

It was recognized last month with Only Murders‘ first SAG Award for Comedy Series Ensemble, shared by Martin, Short, Gomez, Creighton, Levy, Galifianakis, Longoria, Kind, Nanjiani and Molly Shannon. (Short also won for Male Action In a Comedy Series.)

Only Murders in the Building, whose third season landed series-high 21 Emmy nominations, hails from co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman. Season 4 executive producers include John Hoffman, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.

Key recently voiced Bumblebee in Transformers One and Toad in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. He also starred in the Farrelly Brothers Christmas comedy Dear Santa alongside Jack Black. In TV, Key starred in Hulu’s Reboot, did an arc on ABC’s Abbot Elementary and guest starred on CBS’ Elsbeth. He will next be seen in the Amazon MGM Studios’ crime thriller film Play Dirty with Mark Walburg. Key is repped by CAA, Range and Brecheen Feldman Breimer.
